Cheap domain names

Chosing a domain for your websiteWhy do I say "Cheap Domain Names"? Because whether your domain purchase costs $9.99 or $7.49, a domain name is a domain name, it's how you're using it that matters.

Domain names play an important part of Search Engine Optimization because of the key words you can include within it. Relevance of your domain name to its content is a significant in your web sites ranking in major search engines. If one of your website goals is to rank high in the search engines, your domain name purchase must be a key element even before you buy it. You need to plan out your domain name as it relates to the content of your page.

Use an appropriate domain name extension

Using an appropriate extension such as .com, .info, .biz, for your domain name leaves less confusion for those who are searching for your business. As an example of an appropriate use of a domain name extension, a non profit organization would use a .org extension, as a business domain might be a .com or .biz extension. Some of the two letter extensions like .tv or .ca refer to a state or country.

Transferring domain names from one registrar to another

I have found that on many occations I have wanted to move my domain either because poor service or the charge was to much. Domain transfers are fairy easy to accomplish but can take some time to process. Typically a domain name transfer process will complete in 5 to 8 days after it is initialized or purchased. There are several steps to take during the transfer process:

  1. Purchase the domain transfer at thr "New" domain registrar. This would be the new home for the domain. Your new domain registrar will send you authorization codes to help complete the process.
  2. Acquire the single authorization code from originating domain registrar needed to complete the authorization of the transfer.

Within 5 to 8 days the transfer will be complete. This is regulated by ICANN, not your domain Registrar.
